Interfaith-RISE Statement to the President of the United States Regarding the Muslim Ban
Interfaith-RISE (Refugee and Immigrant Services and Empowerment) is a coalition of more than 40 faith-based groups who are providing refuge to people who have been displaced by war and terrorism. We are adamantly opposed to any U.S. policy that denies refugees access to our country based on their religion or nationality. This policy is not only inhumane and un-American, it is an affront to the principles on which our great country was founded and continues to flourish.
Interfaith-RISE, along with thousands of Americans across our country in churches, mosques, and synagogues, welcomes refugees into our community every day. We strongly oppose your executive order that bans Muslim refugees from the U.S. as they flee from the same terrorists and terror activity that the U.S. seeks to defeat. We urge you to allow the U.S. refugee program to continue resettling refugees, all of whom have been exhaustively vetted by American agencies and who need our protection regardless of where they come from and how they pray.
We pray that under your leadership the United States will remain a land of hope and liberty for those who suffer persecution and who look to us for peace, safety, and freedom.
